The Best of 2017 Broadcast, as it aired 12/30/17:

Here’s the hour of extra “Best of 2017” music we didn’t have time to fit into the show last week. Too good to not get played. Happy New Year!!

The Saturday Asylum Top 10 Jams of 2017

Some are obvious. Some aren’t. These were our favorite tracks from some of our favorite albums of 2017. Hopefully, these are some of your favorites, too.

1. LCD Soundsystem – Tonight

The much-hyped return of LCD didn’t disappoint. Front to back, one of this year’s best.

2. Ted Leo – You’re Like Me

Another return in ’17, but the thinking man’s troubadour, Ted Leo. I listened to his track on repeat for weeks.

3. The War On Drugs – Pain

I’ll just come out and say this is my favorite record of 2017. Just stunning. I know we played it to death. Sorry.

4. Oh Sees – Jettisoned

This album actually got some negative reviews, which I find incredible. Sonically, this is one of their best.

5. Grizzly Bear – Mourning Sound

These guys just keep getting better with every release. So good.

6. Sacred Paws – Strike A Match

The underdog of the list. Terribly overlooked, I just loved this entire record. Can’t wait to hear more.

7. Thundercat – ‘Show You The Way

With Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. Need I say more?

8. Spoon – Hot Thoughts

One of everyone’s favorites. For good reason.

9. Destroyer – Tinseltown Swimming In Blood

This song could have made the list on the title alone. Dan Behar, exquisitely courting controversy yet again.

10. The Mountain Goats – Abandoned Flesh

If you name check Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry, you will make this list every year. That’s the new rule.

Yours for only $50! Size XL only!!
